The Artist
I paint mainly in oils, in a surrealist style influenced by the late 19th century Symbolism art movement of mythological and dream imagery.
My images are a juxtaposition of fantasy and reality, often incorporating symbolism and mythology or poetry; sometimes making a comment on human nature, sometimes taking a critical view of environmental or socio-political issues.
One theme I keep returning to is the interaction of humanity with the natural world. There is a powerful narrative in our relationship with nature and the consequences of our lifestyles for the planet.
I created these Green Man planters with my Explorer Scouts along the pathway to the Visitor Centre at the Cwmcarn Forest Drive - an Eco project raising awareness of endangered species.
